PostSubject: Necromancy: The Darker Side of The After-Life   Sat Dec 08, 2007 1:01 pm

I have been receiving increasing amounts of interest in Necromancy, and i am here to explain about what it is (though not how it works!) and try to reduce some of the slander around it's name...

I will add more and more to this thread over the next few days...

Necromancy is well known for being something "unknown", something people did not understand. Most people believe Necromancy purely means summoning deceased spirits, but there is a lot more to what I do...

To use Necromancy, I Astral Project to another plane:it's like going to another frequency of this plane, but it is where all passed souls that cling to life reside. Once I am there, I literally speak to these spirits. People may see this as wrong, whereas I see it as something that could really help me. The ending "mancy" is usually on the end of diviniation forms (e.g. Cartomancy, Geomancy, Eniromancy, etc.).

Some of the stronger spirits can come through to this plane of existence, and a lot of the time they see stuff us regular humans don't: they hear things we don't, they see things we ignore....they are very useful sources of information.

I use the Necromantic plane as I would a reference book..I use it sparingly, and try to avoid spirits I don't know of...but trust me, I am ALWAYS careful...

Nice one, Tomi! Maybe this time Mel went use my comments against it... Evil or Very Mad cheeky mare...

I've always been fascinated by Necromancy but know very little about it.
What type of things can it be used for? I imagine there is more to it than just raising the dead... Is there some facts and trivia you can tell me and the others, maybe to break some of the stigma and stereotyping behind it?

Well, you both know what my position on necromancy has always been Suspect but to be fair I think my view is tainted by previous experience of spirits. However, I don't claim to know everything, or think that i have the right to tell you whats right and wrong. You're free to think and practice whatever you feel is right as long as you don't hurt anyone by doing so- which I know for a fact that neither of you would.
I would also actually like to know more about necromancy. From what you said just then, i don't think it's as bad as I previously thought. Although I still don't think I would ever practice it myself, I'd still like to know more about it before I condemn it.
Even if after hearing all about it i still don't agree with it, don't think that this means I think you're 'evil' or that I am trying to judge or suppress your views- I'm not the Hitler of the magick world! Rolling Eyes

Hehehe thanks for calling me "Not Evil" Solvo, nicest thing you've ever said to me Razz Right, Necromancy can be used for bringing back spirits, but that is not something I do. I use necromancy as a form of Divination, same as people would use Tarot, Runes, Tea-Leaf Reading, etc. except it is more of a reference book. The Spirits (or some of them!) know what is happening on this plane, seeing and hearing thing we don't, so they are a great source of information when you want to get dirt on someone! Razz I have only used this source of information a handful of times, one of which was when the shop (The Willow Tree) was infested with nasty energy and we wanted to confirm our suspicions about who it was. We used about 8 different forms of Divination (Necromancy included) and all got the same answers...

Anything else lovers? Razz

Are the spirits easy to return, once you have borrowed their expertise?

Danny I never summon them, that's the point! I do, as LunarCraft put it, reverse Clairaudience and Clairvoyance: I got to the spirits, rather than bringing them to me

Sad This is ruining my child like dreams of being a necromancer meaning you can summon a vast skeletal army.

And, are you more vulnerable to attack when you astral project into the plane?

Yes, I am, but I am also more protected in some ways: I can get out of there ASAP should I need to...

I have been there quite a few times, so I'm known by a "circle" of spirits. Ones that rely on eachother to stay "alive" (I use this term loosely!) and these are the spirits that talk to me. Before I had to go looking for spirits who were willing to talk to me, now, they almost seem to know when I am coming and have time to gather all the information they can....

rofl Well I suppose having dead friends slightly makes up for no-one alive liking you! rofl
...........................................................................................
Anyway, don't you worry about particularly strong spirits using your energy to return to this plane?

I would just like to butt in here (as "Forum Mother") and say how great it is to see a true and meaningful exchange taking place here.

I feel I must say also, that it is wonderful to see that you are all able to exchange ideas and opinions without prejudice or dogma - I AM PROUD OF ALL OF YOU!

It would only work through vampirism, and most of the stronger spirits have no interest in me: if they can come back to this plane (which is all Necromantic spirits wish to do) they don't need my help. To them I am useless, and the weaker spirits who need my energy need to find another way of doing it. Vampirism is Uber effective on the Necromantic plane, but people like me have ways of protecting themselves...

Vampirism comes in many, many different forms, but it means stealing someones energy of psychic energy....there are a few ways of protecting yourself, although garlic is not one of them! lol tongue

The only forms I know of Vampires are:
  • Psychic: these prey on your psychic energy. You get headaches, blury vision, stuffyness, lethargy, etc. The only way I know to conquer these venemous little gits is to literally push them out of your head, which I can't really explain over MM!! lol
  • Emotional: they prey on your emotions, quite literally stealing them. They make you want them and then use that feeling to grow stronger and more dominant. To stop this, you need to beat them and get over them, again hard to explain
  • Energy: prey on your life energy, the force inside you through an advanced energy technique. The only way to beat this is with layers upon layers of protection.

Sorry if this wasn't very detailed, I'll get Aofie to make a thread on Vampire's, she knows more than I do!

So how does one end up in this other realm, and is it where all spirits go, or is there another realm e.g. something like heaven, or hell?

Also, do all creatures spirits go to this realm.. or more precisely to what i'm asking, do all creatures have spirits, that can go to this realm?

Annnnd, do spirits bare resembalance to their former living self?

Only spirits that desperately wish to live go to this other realm as you so eloquently put it lol I've never seen an animal there, but I guess if an animal really wanted to live it would go here...

Spirits from the Necromantic plane don't look human for long. They change. Some of them just look more skeletal, others become more warrior looking....it depends....although the more time you spend there, the more you change....

What does the plane itself look like? Is it just darkness or are there features (like buildings, trees, swirling energy)?...
Question
How did you feel when you first went there?

When I first arrived there (I was experimenting on getting to new planes!) I was terrified. It looks like the country side should be, with no habitation, no buildings, but there also aren't any trees, animals, bushes, anything you would expect to find in the country. There is one huge tree, that is dead. It looks like Yggdrasil, the Norse or Kabbalistic tree of life, but dead, as if struck by lightning. It is a horrible looking plane like the tim just before Dawn, where everything is grey and nasty looking....
