| For the first time in a while I sat down and started to write a song yesterday. Not sure what direction this is going in. I want to try something other than verse chorus verse chorus middle chorus chorus, so I was thinking maybe just write more verses and come up with a folk-type song. Hmmm... Would be good to go a little different this time anyhow. Has a way to go yet in any case.
It's a dark nght tonight And the snow white moon is glowing And it lighens up a tiny gap In the thick dark charcoal clouds And I'm alone upon a hilltop With a city at my feet And the sky is stained with amber From the burning lights below
Looking up makes you feel tiny That's what they alwys say A person is so small next to The great expanse above But looking at the sky tonight With the grass between my toes I'm standing on a hilltop With a city at my feet. _________________ "You're turned on by rented shoes?!" | Wow - work in development perhaps ... but I want to see more - me, with my awful powers of visualisation, was actually sitting on that hilltop and looking up at the cosmos and the city below ...

It's a dark nght tonight And the snow white moon is glowing And it lighens up a tiny gap In the thick dark charcoal clouds And I'm alone upon a hilltop With a city at my feet And the sky is stained with amber From the burning lights below
Looking up makes you feel tiny That's what they always say A person is so small next to The great expanse above But looking at the sky tonight With the grass between my toes I'm standing on a hilltop With a city at my feet.
Behind me there's a fire now The distant roar of flames It blazes in a circle Of dancing pounding feet A power like a flood That thumps within the veins And burns brighter than the lights Of the city at my feet.
I close my eyes and turn The warmth is like a wave And I step towards the fire And it's fierce and burning song There's a gap amongst the dancers And my pulse is joined already And I spin right off that hilltop With the song in head and feet
The clouds are drawn aside As my toes stretch to the rhythm Something primal, something spiral As I'm flung among the stars And I'm twisting and I'm twirling For an everlasting second Hear the echo of beginning And the harbinger of end
Then I'm drifting down and landing And I'm somewhere on a hilltop On a hilltop near a city With the grass between my toes And I'm drifting then I'm standing As I know I always was As light and bright as ever And as steady as a stone _________________ "You're turned on by rented shoes?!" | Fantastic lyrics ... do you have any music for it yet (or any idea of how you would want it to sound)? _________________ Sarah May the Goddess light your path always, The God protect and your heart be filled with Love! Brightest Blessings! |

| No, not yet.
I was thinking of a folkish tune and then moved onto a kind of 10000 miles by mary chapin carpenter (that song off fly way home) country ballad. But I'm not sure if that would be rhythmic enough to carry the words so I think I'm back to the folk ditty idea. I'll let you klnow if I come up with anything fantastical. Or anything unfantastical for that matter! lol _________________ "You're turned on by rented shoes?!" "That's not the issue..."

| Hmmmmm .... folkish vs country ballad - do you know, either would work but one thing is certain ... you will know when it comes to you and I am sure it will be perfect.
Just a thought ... what about a folkish country ballad??? lol _________________ Sarah May the Goddess light your path always, The God protect and your heart be filled with Love! Brightest Blessings! |
