ok since i posted this i have purchased a book called (a druids herbal of sacred tree medicine by ellen evert hopman) which describes all the celtic trees for example...

birch

in all cultures birch is regarded as the goddess tree, use her energy to put yourself in touch with the femanine aspect of the universe and within yourself.
birch helps us to focus on what needs doing and provides us with the energy to do so.

ok well thats a sample of what i found in the book not much i know but im want to give other people a chance

p.s if anyone knows the spiritual or magical properties of teak i would appreciate that.

The first tree that spung to mind when I saw this thread was the yew. It is commonly known as a symbol of eternity because as it grows old, the trunk becomes hollow and new trunks are from around this basis. I have always been fasinated by this tree and what it represents. Though it has been taken up by the christian faith, as most things, they nicked it! Building churches around the already respected yew, was used as another method to bring people to their religion. Excavations also found the base of an ancient yew, from 300AD at the base of the Glastonbury Tor.
The yew tree is seen as a gateway tree. Branches were often placed at a grave to help the dead continue their journey. The yew tree can also be used in protection by placing a branch at home entrances to ward of evil.
I'm sure there is much more to know of the sacred yew but I'll leave it there for now before I begin to ramble and lose your interest...
